Green Soul (Scrach build)

Hi everyone ,

Thats my first scrach build based on cheap hardware, actualy it's HTPC for useful things (internet, video, photo, NAS and etc.).

Key Features of Project "Green Soul":

Eco friendly - Power consumption up to 25W also green color theme.

Super small size - 225x245x50mm

Sensor power ON/OFF - Own design

Integrated LCD - 4x20 with internal wiring

Integrated bluetooth - Internal wiring (except antenna), status indication on front panel.

Silent - Not fanless, but almost.

All handmade - Only old school drilling, cutting, polishing and NO CNC.

.....everything started from front panel cutting and drilling. Main project materials is stainless steel and aluminum profiles.

Stainless steel just eat's one by one cutting disc's :twisted: , thath's why i like to use my old school "Dremel" :roll:

S.Steel is still hungry and eats last useful diameter drill bits so back panel drilling i leave for later time. Next step is aluminum profile assembling for sides from smaller profiles to get desired case length.

Next step is electronic part. Important thing is PSU, and there is 2 choices: buy PicoPSU or create my own PSU 8) I choose to get more experience building psu's and spend less money. My PSU design is based on buck-boost controllers with max. power ~80W (enough for Atom). Mobo with created-assembled power supply start like a charm. After deeper test i measured to big voltage spikes and was disappointed because i don't have time to fight with them. Also i think that overall looking must be much better with PicoPSU so ordered that small good thing.

For power on/off i use unusual own design touch sensitive button with LED lighting. There are two lighting colors for two modes: Power off/hibernade and Power on/standby.

For different usable information i use 4x20 character LCD. Standart solution use LPT port is acceptable for me but external wiring not. So there come's idea make internal LCD port with pin to pin wiring :wink:

Ups, where is old good LPT port :shock:
