i7 cooler that fits Cooler Master Cosmos S

Recommended Posts

Hi, I really wanted to get a V8 to cool the i7 920 I'm getting, but from what I've seen, it won't fit. Can anyone recommend another good LGA1366-compatible cooler that will actually fit the Cosmos S? If not, will removing the side panel fan affect the internal temps at all?

Thanks is advance,

Martin

The side panel fan is large and really helps cool components down. The only Socket 1366 air coolers that I know fit in the Cosmos S are relatively cheap, but I'm not sure about this one.

You may have to go to water cooling if you want to go to 4 ghz and beyond. Water cooling in the Cosmos is no issue though.

Thanks for the help boredgunner, but I ended up ordering the parts earlier this afternoon. I read something about using a dremel to trim away at the offending part of the fan -- anyone know if this will work with the V8?

The 9900 doesn't fit.. It's too big. Atleast that's what my friend tells me.

The 9700 with the 1366 bracket fits, albeit just barely.
