Cooler Master Ultimate Circuit Protection 900W

Efficiency is becoming more and more an issue these days when it comes to power supplies. We all know now that power supplies with an 80 PLUS certificate are better for both environment and wallet. But to push the power supply manufactures even more the 80 PLUS organization created several types of certifications.

Power supplies who have an efficiency starting from 80% will get the standard certificate. For those who can manage to reach an efficiency starting from 82% and at least 85% will get the Bronze award. And then there is also the until now almost impossible to reach Silver award that needs at least an efficiency starting from 85% and up to a minimum of 90%! And until now its still an utopia that a power supply reaches the Gold award with an incredible efficiency starting from 87% and up 90%.

Till now only Dell and NXP have achieved to reach 80 PLUS Silver with their 255W and 270W power supplies. But today Cooler Master is the first one that manages to achieve with a power supply above 300W. Where most power supply manufactures still have trouble reaching the Bronzed award with power supplies over 650W, Cooler Master manages to reach Silver with nothing less then 900W!

This 900W power supply is part of the UCP (Ultimate Circuit Protection) series that have already been shown to the public on CeBIT Hanover under the name UWP.

Thank you for the info , dont understand why Coolermaster installed a 120mm fan in this PSU , was possible to install a 140mm ,like the thermaltake ,Xclio, and many other PSU makers are installing already 140mm in theys PSU

No idea, but maybe that the power supply is so efficient that it doesn't need that much cooling.

I hope its accoustic performance is as good as its power efficiency :)

Now that's funny. I have the UCP 700 from my beta test and it was rated with 80PLUS Silver, yet in that article it stated it was achieved with nothing less than a 900W?

I don't see what's peculiar about the article. You have to realize when the article was written.

The UCP 900W was tested by EPRI and given 80 PLus Silver two months before the testing of the UCP 700. ;)
