Can Real Power M850 (RS-850-ESBA) power Radeon HD 2900XT ?

Hi!

I'm very eager to buy this PSU, but I have one issue that's still bothering me.

Can this PSU adequately power Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics card when connected with one 6-pin PCI-E and one 8-pin PCI-E connector? I'm pretty sure that it will run with two 6-pin PCI-E connectors, but unsure how it performs with one 6-pin and one 8-pin. I'm asking this since other manufacturers "strongly recommended to choose the connectors from exactly the same +12V rail" (can anyone tell me way???), and because I don't have info (at least I couldn't find it) on M850's PCI-E connectors rail distribution I'm not sure how the whole thing would work.

I'm also wondering way this PSU isn't ATI Crossfire certified, and of course, is it even then possible to run two of Readeon HD 2900XT in crossfire connected in same manner (6-pin + 8-pin) as mentioned previously.

The rest of configuration is pretty much standard (X38 mobo, C2D E6850, 4GB DDR2 PC-8500, one HDD 500MB, FDD, DVDRW, 4 case fans).

Does anyone has experince with this? Any information about it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Bye!

Yes, this will work perfectly, even crossfire is no problem. The manual will tell you which connector is which 12v line

You can only use ATI Overdrive (overclocking) if you have both the 6 pin and 8 pin leads plugged into the gfx cards (when using crossfire). 2 x 6 pin leads will power the cards but you won't be able to use Overdrive.

I just built a 2900xt Crossfire system using the modular 850 power supply but the 8pin leads were missing as mentioned here;

I've had to construct my own 8 pin leads to use overdrive.....

...And I have finally bought it (sorry for long delay). But, I also didn't get 8-pin PCIe clabes.

Nevertheless, I installed the PSU to see how it works, and it works great.

Now about these cables, how can I get them?

I'm not really for constructing them myself, since they they are suppose to come in the box.

What should I do?

Thanks,

Bye.

I would have advised you to get the 1000w version, the RS A00 Emba because Rails 3 and 4 have 28 amps available on each on them (these are the pci express rails) compared to 18 on the 850 w power supply
