HDD Cooling Question

Does anyone have any experience with the type of hard disk drive coolers that you screw onto the HDD? [mod edit: competitor's name/product removed--please see the forum rules for more info]

Are these things effective, or just a waste of money?

I use intake fans.

Those are placed before my hdd's, so perfect cooling!

And a good way to let some fresh air into your case.

If you have more cooling questions, please post them :)

How many intake fans can be installed before the hdds? My Centurion 5 has one 80mm at the intake (as purchased). Is there room for another fan in that area? If there is, I would really like to install one there.

I have a centurion 1, normally there is room for 1 fan, but the frame behind the frontpanel, has some more holes, for airflow. I put 2 fans under the normal one.

It's sort of a triangle -->

...fan

fan fan

How many harddrives do you have? When I had mine, 1 fan was perfectly fine for my 2 HDDs. It also helps if there is space between the two drives.

That's a good thing to mention!

In my 4-3 module, there is room for 4 hdd's, but for the cooling I placed only 3, so the air can flow there!
