Guess what, he's giving me one. haha
for the server? how's that coming along?

i do see the similarity between the 2 side panels, esp. in the shape of the cut on the plastic piece.

well, i don't think they are "requiring" it, but since they couldn't get their chips to run cooler, and there was serious heat problems with the 915/925, it's strongley recommended :P

Last time i spoke with Intel, the guy told me they REQUIRE an air duct or fan. I think this is very weird.

Indeed...

Does anyone know what the power consumption on the new LGA chips are? That must be pretty ungodly if they require a fan duct.... shoot, for the new chips they may require water cooling!

This is a weird move on Intel to require a fan duct... This is going to change a lot of cases

Or more people will just move over to AMD!

Well, the BTX cases have a whole structure just for the anticpiated heatsinks they may need. I think heat pipes may be a better solution, and having them somehow integrated into the case would be ideal (I think some SFF's have this). This may require that CPU placement be identical on all MB's.
