Frustrated with ML240R Controller and LED's failure

Hi. I've just received a replacement ML240R because the first one died. Yep died. No lights on the pump and one of the fans.
Now within 2 hours of installing the replacement, it looks like the controller has stopped working.
The pump and fan are still running but no LED's at all.
I have tried all the button, checked all the cables, tried different ports on the controller. Nothing works.
It just sits there doing nothing.
Even when I plug in a working Coolermaster MasterFan Pro it doesn't light up.
You can see in the image below that there are lights on the controller but its not powering the lights on the fans or the pump.

I have placed a support ticket with CM support but I wanted to share my frustration with this product.
And as I have been through the forums looking for answers I have come across a lot of people who have the same problem with these as I do.
Namely,
The terrible manual,
The lack of diagram explaining button functions on the controller.
No troubleshooting guide.
The lack fact that this watercooler IS NOT Aura compatible.
No it's not!
You can not plug this watercooler or it's fans into the Asus RGB header.

Seeing as I'm forced to use the controller that came with this watercooler I need to make sure I get a replacement THAT WORKS!
Getting fed up with playing this game with CM as this is the second ML240R I've had that had had bad LED problems.

I have the exact same problem as you, It also appears that I have the exact same Mobo.
Potentially could be a mobo issue?

Please keep me posted with any news on this.

Thanks Heaps.

It can't be the mobo as the controller is stand alone.
And it was working but stopped all of a sudden.
I'm just left feeling that CM are not interested in addressing production quality or the fact that they didn't bother to link the software or user manual, which i have now found online.

I'm also now stuck trying to even buy a replacement controller. As they don't list them anywhere on their website. they have a different rgb controller, but it;s not the same as what comes with the ML240R.

Raffy I'll be burning the fans with the water cooler if I cant get them to work. I'll post a vid on youtube if I can't get a controller.

Just checking but from the looks you have a ASUS Z370-E motherboard? I have the same.

A regular RGB header on your motherboard will not work with these fans.

You need to connect it to the ARGB header which of you only have one so you will need a ARGB splitter cable to connect everything. (Again a regular RGB splitter will not work)

I just returned my MasterFan Pro RGB fans as they make a :) of a rattling sound... And I'm also not the only one!
I was now thinking of buying the regular MasterFan RGB fans or the new ARGB fans.

Keep me updated if you get it to work with AURA!

PS: I'm not related to Cooler Master but just trying to help.

Also very frustrated with these issues,

I bought the ML240R and thought beauty comes with an RGB controller so I bought all cooler master RGB fans.

Only to find out their other fans are all 4 pins and all the RGB controller with the ml240r and fans are all 3 pin so they did not work.
I then Brought their standalone controller for the fans meaning I needed 2 controllers and cables in my case to run RGB systems on all the same branded equipment.

a couple weeks into the system being built the lights on the two radiator fans and the CPU cooler all went out, I believe it is the controller as both the CPU cooler and the fans went out at the same time.  I have tried testing different things with my other controller and the RGB port on my Mobo but cannot get the lights working.
The connections on the ml240r controller and fans are horrible and flimsy.

I am in a difficult situation as the cooler is working as it should as a cooler, and as I have no spare coolers to use I'm finding it hard to make the computer useable while I send it back for the RGB issues.

I am tempted to go buy another branded cooler and ditch all my cooler master gear into a bin and set it on fire which is a shame since i brought 6-7 of their fans and the extra rgb controller  I expected much more than this from a company like cooler master.

Their "live support" is never online and take forever to answer tickets.

Hi CM sent me a "new controller"  "they had laying around". But it didn't fix the RGB LED failure.
These things are complete rubbish.
This will be the second time I've had to send back one of these junk coolers because of LED failures.
Oh and the Pump LEDs have decided to go haywire now, not a one colour sort of blinking really fast and random.
Really poor quality LEDS.

I suggest buying a different brand as it's more than obvious that CM are making garbage when it comes to RGB LEDs on their coolers.
I'll be sending mine back and if I get a replacement I'll sell that on ebay and get a brand like Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing RGB.

Very disappointed with CM.

***2019 fix,    OK so this worked for me maybe not for you but who knows.

So I installed this today not knowing what I was really doing but tried my best and managed to do it like a pro!     Worked fine at first all functions ect... However it stopped working and was trying and testing everything for about 3/4 hours   in the end I held each button on the controller for roughly 10 seconds each. It then came on and now works fine. This worked because I found out that if you only have a RGB header rather than a advanced motherboard with a preferred Argb header, u can switch the mode on the controller by holding the 2nd button down.  It will switch to the correct mode and work.
