Why are new cases shipping with outdated i/o panels?

I'm about to build a new pc and am waiting for the new cosmos II case. I'm both curious and disappointed in that the panels on these cases have USB 2.0 ports and not an HDMI or USB 3 type C port. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. They're outdated and unnecessary. The new cosmos comes with 4 of them in the front panel. Such a waste of space where an HDMI and a type C port can go.  These ports have been out a long while now.

Please ditch 2.0 already. Thanks.

It might be a while before that's ditched.  USB 2.0 is very handy to have if you need to reimage a system, and the Windows PE (or other) boot environment you have only supports peripherals on USB 2.0 ports.  Those boot environments have to have drivers installed to support the use of peripherals.

I agree with you. It'd be nice it was ditched, but I don't mind a couple 2.0 ports. Just a couple, though.  You don't need more.

Alright, that's good to know. But, these 2.0 ports could be in the back of the pc and not the front panels?

my printer doesnt work with 3.0 and especially not with that red colored 3.1 port. I'd be sol without it.
