What is the proper pump speed?

Recommended Posts

Just installed a Nepton 280L in a recent build.

I am seeing reported pump speeds of 4000 to 7000 RPM, which sounds very high to me.  Is this the correct range?  Radiator fan speeds are

running about 1400.

Cooling is not what I expected, but I may have a cooling head that is not seated properly to the CPU.  At Idle cpu temp is shown at 47 but core temps are running 60 to 70.

During checkout, I'm only running the CPU up to 2.3 gHz and its still running hot!

My system:

Maingear Shift case

ASUS Maximus Formula VII MB

Intel Core i7-4790k CPU usually running up to 4.6 gHz

Cooler Master Nepton 280L, with radiator externally mounted

32 gB DDR3 running at 2400

The pump will run around 6800 RPM.

Which fans are you using? And are they set to pull or push?

i have the same problem dude. my nepton 280l pump speed is 7k+ and temperature levels of my processor is ideal 35-45 Celsius max load 65-70+ celsius. Plus fans are very noisy running in an ideal processor for 1500 rpm.

Is there a solution for the noise?

Mobo: gigabyte x58a-ud7

Processor: i7 extreme 980x

Cooling: Nepton 280l

The pump speed is normal.

As for the noise: I suggest to change the fans to Silencio FP fans. Although they are only 120mm, they will be able to penetrate the radiator better and therefore provide better cooling + lower noise overall.

Hello Tom,

The Nepton 280L does seem to be cooling properly since 60-70c is not an abnormal full load temperature for a 4790k.

Do you know how the CPU was overclocked ? Manually or Auto overclock?

Its possible that the block/pump is not seated properly since most intel CPU's idle between 30-35c.

Respectfully,

Patrick
