UPDATE 10th of January, 2015 (Originally posted @ overclock.net posted here with a delay)

It's been a couple days, and I'm literally sanding my :) off, I'm ''trying'' to perfect this whole compartment panel, and it's not yet - but close to - done.
I know, I could of done it differently, but this way I can put a bigger set of skills to the test. Really this whole build is about learning.
Since I haven't posted progress in a while I'm just going to show you how it's going with the compartment I've been working on the last few days.

Enjoy!

Look at all those bumps :sad-smile

Polyester, here we go, see if it works, and it didn't do too well, ended up sanding most of it away and still having bumps.

Oh well, after mounting this plate to the side-panel: more polyester to fill up that space.

Looks really bad like this :P

And then my dad came up to me, and he found some old body filler! PERFECT, here we go!

This was after I sanded down the first layer of body filler and I had already painted it too. Now to fill up the little holes and such.

All sanded down now its time for primer.

It doesn't look too bad in this photo, just wait till you see...

Whoops. That's 150 grid for ya. This means: a lot of sanding, with 1200 grid then... Wish me luck :)

It's all coming together nicely I must say, but still a lot of work to do.
See you in the next update!

Update time yo... 19th of January, 2015! (again originally uploaded to overclock.net, and posted here with a delay.)

Quite a couple of things have been done, and I came a lot closer to completing this project already! So lets get on with the pictures shall we.

Hard drive bay, was opting for the standard holes, but no. Since I CAN put it more to the front, I AM going to do it :P

And it fit like an absolute glove!

And I'm at it again, with the rear fan. Since it was still a little restrictive why not cut even more out :P These pictures show the end result by the way.

And I still need a rear exhaust done in the top panel, so here we go!

Looking quite smooth in my opinion.

And this is the final result of front and top panel !

Masking out the case for some paint, wich kind of failed :/ not 100% happy with the result.

On photo it looks pretty good, but I found out the hard way that spaying paint onto powder coat isn't the best thing to do.

And I also got some over spray, which is no problem really, because these are areas we won't be seeing again :P

Update 29th of January 2015 (again, originally posted @ overlclock.net, and posted here with a slight delay.)

SO! Yesterday I ''finally'' got the rubber U-channel I ordered... Took 'em 2 weeks :/
With that I could finish this up, I think ?

We're coming closer and closer to the final pictures. I think I'm actually done really, and I'm really happy with the result!
These are not yet the final pictures, but the last photo is the final product.

The PSU cover also fully done with the paint :)

Sooo, guess what I forgot... The PCI-slot covers and the I/O shield :o *quickly paints*

Almost done ! by GerbenWerkhoven, on Flickr

Cold cathode installed (with on/off switch, more on this in another post), PCI-slot covers installed, I/O shield installed.

Before I can install a window, I of course need to cut a hole first :P

Happy with the cut

RUBBER! I waited so (too) long for this.

Keeping the edges square, so I had to cut the U-channel for the window in four parts, with a 45° cut on the ends.

And again, happy with the result :)

It's just the right tint, not too dark not too light. With cathodes off I can just see the components.

And because the inside is white now, the cathodes give out way more light !

Final pics will come soon, I don't know when, but you'll see.

I hope you have all enjoyed reading/looking (at) this thread, anyway, I really enjoyed myself making this - in my opinion - very sleek and clean looking machine.

Share your opinions and keep on modding!
