Try to turn the monitor facing east wards...

Sound stuppid I know...

But realy belive me, I worked years ago as quallity engineer in monitors and this realy affected the screens performance.

Further I would also go with limqareb, use degause and a 90% chance your trouble will be over.

Just an update, facing it eastward actually works, but with the confined space I have I wouldn't be able to sit :P

I've also tried everything except a homemade degausser. Don't wanna die yet / go thru the trouble splicing and stuff hehe. I called viewsonic hong kong and they are very helpful. Made an appointment for them to pick up my "bad" monitor and see what they can do, or get a new one.

So let's see how it goes maybe a week later. I am also guessing it might be the electrical wires embedded in the wall behind the CRT. Did anyone encounter this yellow spot thing and confirmed it's the PSU instead? Thanks.

*time to head back to the trusty 0.20 17" hehe*
