Good idea, I will check that, but the red one is already registered.
I might mail Cooler Master and ask them for the manufacturing date.

 

Edit 1: I checked the brown one, it's from 2014 too. (30.10.2014)

I now hope the red is a newer one, because of the listed differences.

The brown definitively goes back.

 

Edit 2: I got an answer from Cooler Master, my red ist from 24.12.2014.

I updated to the newest firmware and will try how long it will last.

Update: My "C" LED just failed... 

This is so bad. I've have my Rapid-i for just under a year, within the first 2 months there were ~10 LEDs dead. Decided to leave the back lighting off and was okay with it for a loooong time until the toggle key LEDs like Caps and Scroll lock died. Sent it out for RMA and they received it on Feb. 5th, still haven't heard anything back about it. I even asked in the comments if I can pay the difference or switch to a different model, preferably that new Si.

I'm completely baffled by the fact they didn't do a recall for unsold Rapid-i when they knew the keyboards had a hardware error. Retail stores still sell those...

In the last 5 days the "right Shift" and the "L" key died too btw.

Is yours still working? My replacement arrived yesterday. I hope it will keep working for a long long time!

Sry for the late reply.

Right now, all LEDs are still working.

I hope to be one of the lucky guys out there, but still am not that optimistic.

Good to hear. Still waiting on some type of response. My RMA has been at the "Goods in" state for a couple weeks now.
