Storm Stryker SSD Slot Connection?

Recommended Posts

Hello. Just did a build with the Stryker. The SSD slot is not working. Nothing happens when I insert an SSD drive. I do have the USB 3 and USB 2 case cables attached to the motherboard and all the USB slots on the front/top of the case work. Is there a power cable for the SSD slot that I need to connect as well?

Thanks

Yes. SATA for the motherboard.

Ok. Found the connections and got it all hooked up but the bios won't recognize the device (slot drive bay) unless there is a drive in the slot on boot. Any ideas on how to change this in the bios to make the slot recognized on boot without a drive in it? I have an Asus Sabertooth Z79

Seems like this slot would have worked better if it was on the USB 3.0 IO line.

You need to enable ahci or hot swap function within the bios as well as within windows otherwise you will have to install a drive before you turn on the computer.
