Cosmos Pure system (tower mod)

Recommended Posts

The Cosmos Pure System is based on Cooler Masters Cosmos Pure super tower. The whole build lasted less than three months, approximately 350 work hours. All the work was done only with hand tools, I did not use CNC, metal bender etc. As usually I did not draw any plans, and the cooling was water based.

First I removed the external panels, and cut pout the unnecessary HDD cages.

On the top of the house, there was not enough place for the 3 x 120 mm fans and radiator, so I had to make a custom-built roof.

The next step was the fan grill for the top 120 mm ventilators. I decided to extend the Cosmoses original grill, and first I painted it white. I used some grills originally designed for air conditioning devices.

UPGRADE!

My concept was to make more grills with this design, the next one I built on the back panel. First I made an aluminum frame, then I glued some polystyrene plates on it, and the grills where smaller aircon parts.

As I planned to fit another radiator, a Phobya 180 into the front of the case, I had to make ventilation for it too, so the grill on the side panel was born. I wanted there a window too, therefore the grill was a smaller one, done like its brother on the back. I made the same (jut mirrored) grill on the opposite side too. At this level I decided to paint the grills black instead of white.

UPGRADE!!

Sure I had to design a grill to the front too, but I liked the front door so much, that I kept is, and made the ventilation behind the door. The procedure was the same as earlier, some aluminum profiles, covering sheets and fins form air conditioning. When it was ready I realized, that a 120 mm fan fits behind the grill.

After the grills, I started to work on the inside of the case. First I designed a holder for the front radiator. It was cut out form an 1 mm aluminum plate, and bended by hand tools.

Coming along well, like the idea for mounting the radiator at the side of the chassis. Also good job making the rad cowling / guard.
